WMHS students will have the opportunity to participate in an After School Teen Yoga and Meditation class from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. This class is instructed by highly qualified and certified teacher Sharon Maramma who is the founder of “Here Comes the Sun Yoga” which developed out of her passion to share yoga and its positive message with children and teens, it in turn has inspired her to author two children’s books. She teaches at Yoga Mandala in Winchester, Solstice Yoga in Lynnfield as well as several other studios and schools in surrounding towns. Upon completion of her 200 hour yoga teaching certification she continued her yoga education and received additional children’s training and her Teen Coaching Certification at UNH. Her degree from Salem State University is in healthcare related showing her dedication to wellness.
Class description- Teen Yoga provides students with a chance to relax and learn to be mindful while practicing playful and challenging yoga sequences with their peers. All teens, from the artist to the athlete, can benefit from the physical and mental benefits of this class. Students will build strength and flexibility, and they will feel at ease in a class that is designed to be accepting, fun, and non-competitive. All teens welcome; no yoga experience is necessary. . Classes are designed to make learning fun and to enable students to take the lessons off the mat and into their home and school life.
The time is perfect it is right after school and located in the WMHS gymnastics room. It benefits all High School teens who would like to be part of a group and who are not currently active on an after school team or club. The advantage of this class is that students do not have to leave their environment and they will learn to socialize and exercise their body, mind and spirit with their peers at Woburn Memorial High School.
